Race Around the Island, Saturday April 27 2024

CROCC’s Race Around the Island is on April 27 at Chinook Landing Marine Park in Troutdale, Oregon! Please see our full race packet for more information and for registration forms:

RATI 2024 Race Packet

A continental breakfast, coffee, and water will be provided to our participants. We will also be selling lunch, including a vegetarian option.. At the end of the day, there will be a raffle and awards presentation.

Events:

  • The Long course is a 10+ mile paddle open to all divisions.
  • The Short course is a 4-6 mile paddle open to all divisions.

**All course lengths are subject to change due to conditions.**

Open to Mixed, Women, and Men with Novice, Youth, Open, Master 40, Master 50, Master 60 and Master 70 Divisions.

Pre-registration opens immediately and closes on April 21, 2024. Participants who pre-register will receive 2 raffle tickets per paddler. Make checks payable to “CROCC.” Please e-mail completed forms to kate.e.dilworth@gmail.com or snail mail to:

RATI 2023 Results are available. Congratulations paddlers! If you took pictures of the results whiteboard, please note: after the event, corrections were made to the results for these categories:

Thank you to everyone who paddled, hauled canoe trailers, set up tents, donated raffle items, drove safety boats, shared food, and made our event a success!

Announcement, Intro to Outrigger Paddling

Aloha! The Columbia River Outrigger Canoe Club is excited to be hosting our Outrigger 101 Workshop on August 13.  We look forward to sharing our love for Hawaiian outrigger paddling with you.

Here are the details:

DATE: Saturday, August 13, 2022

TIME: 10:00am – 12 Noon

WHERE: M. James Gleason Memorial Boat Ramp (Broughton Beach Area), 4325 NE Marine Drive, Portland

There is a $5.00 parking fee (Debit or Credit Cards only, no cash)

CROCC will provide PFD’s (personal flotation devices) and paddles for participants of all ages.  However, if you have a PFD or outrigger paddle, please bring it. 

WHAT TO BRING:

Yourself, a friend (if you like), H2O, and a towel — this is a water sport; you will get wet!  DO bring with you a good attitude, team spirit, and a willingness to learn.

WHAT TO WEAR:

Shorts or crops, tank tops, swimsuits, hats, sunglasses.  As to footwear? Rubber slippers are okay as are boat or water shoes or sandals.  And don’t forget to wear SUNSCREEN!

Winter Series #2 Registration Open

Winter series #2 registration is open! You can register in any of the following ways:

  • Download and complete the Winter Series #2 registration packet and waiver; scan and email to kate.e.dilworth@gmail.com (bring $25 per paddler  to the race site)
  • Fill out the online registration (bring waiver and $25 per paddler to the race site, or scan and email waiver to kate.e.dilworth@gmail.com )
  • Register in person at the race site

We are keeping an eye on the weather! If we need to cancel the race, a decision will be made by Friday morning and communicated to Tyler Irwin, PNWORCA race committee chair. We’ll also post it to our website and email paddlers who have submitted their email with registration.

UPDATE: The Winter Series Race #2 was cancelled due to unsafe weather conditions. Please be on the look out for a reschedule announcement via our Facebook Page and from PNWORCA. Mahalo!
